10 Commandments for Homebuyers!

Sometimes, as a brand new homebuyer, you can forget that you SHOULDN'T do certain things while you're under contract. The home loan process is very detailed and can be put in jeopardy if you accidentally do any of these 10 things. As a new homebuyer, you can get excited and jump the gun when it comes to buying furniture or other household items. Don't be tempted! All you have is time to think about decorating and all the projects that you want to do to make it your very own! Just remember that it's not your home until it closes and the deed is recorded! There will be plenty of time to do all the things that you dream of after everything is signed and the keys are placed in your hand.

In my experience, these are 10 things that you should NEVER do when buying your dream home.

1. THOU SHALT NOT CHANGE JOBS!
2. THOU SHALT NOT BUY A CAR, TRUCK, OR BOAT UNLESS YOU PLAN TO LIVE IN IT!
3. THOU SHALT NOT MAX OUT YOUR CREDIT CARDS!
4. THOU SHALT NOT CLOSE ANY ACCOUNTS!
5. THOU SHALT NOT SPEND YOU DOWN PAYMENT MONEY!
6. THOU SHALT NOT BUY ANY FURNITURE (OR ANYTHING ELSE) UNTIL YOUR LOAN CLOSES!
7. THOU SHALT NOT BECOME SELF-EMPLOYED!
8. THOU SHALT NOT MAKE ANY LARGE UNDOCUMENTED DEPOSITS INTO YOUR BANK ACCOUNT!
9. THOU SHALT NOT SHUFFLE YOUR MONEY!
10. THOU SHALT NOT CO-SIGN FOR ANYONE!
